Thus begins the process of porting over eleven years worth of Newsy Bits from the old site to the new one. This should only take me six months...
Five, Six, Seven, Eight!
Well, it was thrilling. To see the movie on the big screen, with a big audience (socially distanced and masked) was emotional. The stage show went over like gangbusters. The four-person cast really pulled it off, considering we'd only rehearsed remotely--save for one in-person rehearsal.
But the movie was the main event. The audience loved it. They actually applauded after *every* number, and when the credits rolled, they applauded throughout the *entire* sequence. I've certainly never seen anything like it. It was a heady experience. Several of the onscreen actors came to the movie, and I had several good friends there as well. It was a great day, and one I won't soon forget.
BEAUTY AND THE BEASTY opens at Castro Valley Performing Arts Center.
Break a leg and...Have-a-cuppa-tea (on me!)
How cool to be invited to a private producers' party for Richard M. Sherman's new show PAZZAZZ! (pazzazzthemusical.com).
I've met him (and Robert) at functions before, but how great (or, should I say, "how supercalifragilisticexpealidocious"?) to be able to sit with him and discuss with him the difficulties of getting producers and theatre companies to take a chance on new shows. I told him, "You think it's hard for Richard Sherman? Try being ME!"
It's offical! I can (at long last!) announce my new musical!
It's been killing me to keep mum, but the ink had to dry: THE BRODY BUNCH ON WILLIGAN'S ISLAND is a satirical spin on two well-loved American sitcoms. (Any guesses which two?) This show is going to be an absolute blast, and I am more excited about this project than any other I have ever worked on!
The world premiere is taking place in September at Tri-Valley Repertory Theatre. Far out! Stay tuned for more groovy details...
